Q: why does the 3/8 in. female pipe only partially thread down onto the hose? It looks like it only threads about 1/3 of the threads on the hose and it looks like it doesn't create a tight high pressure seal.

- A: The "NPT" National Pipe Thread is sealed by "Wedging" metal to metal seal. It is normal for the adapter or pipe end to only insert partially into receiving fitting.2 years agoHelpful?

I like the fitting in conjunction with the hydraulic hoses. Quick simple fixes and nice to keep in stock at the farm. The only problem is the store does not stock these well. You'll be lucky to find the size you need. And if they do stock it, you'll only find one fitting. Well, you need two for a repair. On one occasion, I tried four tractor supply stores for stock of this fitting and none had it. How can you call yourself tractor supply and not stock parts for tractors? Maybe it's time for a name change...Farm Clothing Supply.
