Cold Steel has been a long time believer in the ferocious cutting power of a well-designed Viking Axe, but until recently we lacked the technical ability to make one to our satisfaction. However, with our new state-of-the-art forging facility, we can offer our customers something truly exceptional. Our Viking Axe's formidable long, thin blade is fully polished and hand-sharpened to a bone-splitting, shield-shattering edge.

  • Robust 10 in. cutting surface that terminates in two sharp horns or points
  • Traditionally, the longer top point was used for stabbing, gouging, or parrying, while the slightly shorter bottom point was used to capture an opponent's shield or to hook and immobilize his neck, arms, or legs
  • To maximize leverage, strength, and dexterity of movement, the Viking Axe is equipped with a very strong, resilient haft
  • Made in Maine from the best hickory available, it enhances and amplifies our Viking Axe's lethal potential as a cutting, chopping and stabbing weapon

The hardware for mounting the ax head is trash and the coating on the ax head came chipped. Other than those 2 issues the ax makes a nice addition to my collection. However for the price one would expect better production quality.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Spoiler alert... I really like this sword. It's not the best sword I own or have used but it has some very nice qualities. It is solidly made and although the finish work wasn't perfect, it was 99% of the way there. Everything fits well and no rattling or movement in the component parts. My particular sword came in at 2lbs 2.9oz and the point of balance was right around 6.5". The blade was 34" long as advertised with an overall of 39". Contrary to what I've read online about cold steel products, this blade had a very decent distal taper. 7mm thickness at the hilt, 3mm about 7" from the tip, and 1.8mm at the very tip. The vibrational node (or "percussion point") is 12" from the tip. I'm not used to single handed swords, or sabers for that matter, so the handling of the sword is new to me and does feel a bit sluggish. Not horribly so however I wouldn't call this weapon "nimble". It is a calvary saber so it wasn't designed to be "nimble", rather to deliver devasting cuts. This blade definitely carries itself through a cut and made quick work of soft object targets. For the price I can't imagine finding a similar blade that is made as well or finished so nicely. The weight distribution could be improved for better handling would be my major critique if I had to pick one. I'm happy I bought this sword though! It's a lot of fun. Oh, and it comes with a nice steel scabbard as well. Sword fits in nicely and doesn't fall out when upside down.

As Soon as I laid my unworthy hands on her, and gazed my eyes on her glory, the handle, the blade and got it all fixed together, Oh yes. Beautiful, one will truly be able to defend his footbridge with this.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
