I studied reviews on this trap before buying, and while mixed, they were mostly favorable so I took the bait (pardon the pun). We had a serious Norway rat problem around our chicken coops, with the little scoundrels successfully tunneling routes into all of the runs. Following the guidelines of the instructions, we set the trap with all doors locked open for the first three nights, allowing the rats to get accustomed to going into the trap for food. Also during the night hours, we removed all the chicken feed from the feeders so the only food source would be what was in the trap (also common chicken feed pellets). On day four, we closed the escape door and released the trap door so it could function.....our results were astounding. Just shortly after dusk, we noticed that at least four rats were captured, and with the trap makers boasting that it could catch up to 21 rats, we were hopeful. At 5am the next morning, I checked the trap again before leaving for work. Inside the trap were a bunch of scurrying rats of biblical proportions, far too many to count. When all was said and done, the trap had successfully caught 34.....yes, 34 rats on the first night, all in one setting. Due to the overwhelming results of this trap, it gets a five star rating from us!

Rats are too sophisticated for the simple entry port. Within 30 minutes they had figured out how to let themselves right back out.
