Works ok but needs some modifications.

Ours arrived with the tote cracked on 2 sides.Talked to the store manager and he said to order a new one and then return the old one. He said he'd tape the cracks and put it in the box and hope the next customer didn't notice it. WHAT ?? We taped it ourselves. We watched on the game camara as the rats went all around it but couldn't figure out how to get in. The next night we tied the door open and watched them run in and out hoping they were learning how to get in. The next night they were running around it again and still couldn't figure it out. The next night I used a stick and loosly propped the door open and we got one! Quickly learned that you need to wire the back door, where you get them out, shut because it was pulling on it and would've probably gotten away if we hadnt dispatched it. And be careful, use the handles because that thing was screeching and trying to bite through the wire. Also wire tied the entry door shut while submerging it. The next night I propped the door open again but the stick fell and again, tha rat ran all around it and couldn't figure out how to get in it. It's been trial and error but we did get one,so,,we'll keep trying.

The terminator

This trap is effective. Peanut butter and chicken feed are rats weakness. They can't resist it. 3 days with trap zip tied open and baited every day. 4th night cut the zip tie, rebaited and BOOM 17 rats trapped. Never have I seen a trap be so effective. I've tried snap traps, plunge traps, electroshock traps, sticky traps, bait stations, and this trap is the King. Worth the money.

Probably great for a large population of rats

Our chickens made a mess of their feed and the rats would come in at night to clean up the mess they left behind. So, we started keeping the bucket feeder on top of the Ratinator (daytime only) and so the chicken feed would land in the Ratinator. We have a ring camera in our coop, so we watched the rats every night (with the trap door propped open). Rats are so cautious and suspicious! It look ~a week before they even tried stepping into the thing! Then, they didn't seem to want to walk in. We watched the cameras carefully and realized that they had tunneled under the thing to get the feed without going in! So, we attached the tray that came with it to stop the food from going onto the ground. Finally, they had to go in to get the food. After a few days, they were going in. Then, we set the door. We got 4 rats that first night of it being set: 1 large adult and 3 juveniles. They stayed in there all day, waiting to be dispatched. We have not caught any since. This is one of many tools we have been using to knock down the rats at the coop and at this point there are not many. We had already had success with some snap traps and especially with dry ice (taking advantage of a snowstorm). If we had started with the Ratinator, maybe it would have been more effective for us, but we just seem to have some cautious stragglers now who will not go into the thing. I think this trap would be amazing for knocking down the numbers of a large, confident rat population. I don't know if it was worth the price for our problem though. Rats are just so freaking smart!
