A favorite heirloom for high yields of short cukes with solid flesh. Thin-skinned, straight fruit with full ends and a nice green color. Vines bear continuously. Flesh is crisp and very receptive to pickling spices. May be harvested at sizes from 3 in. to 7 in. Plants resist scab and are tolerant to cucumber mosaic. Maturity: 55-days after planting.

  • Flesh is crisp, making ideal pickles
  • Vines bear continuously, harvest fruits when 3 in. to 7 in.
  • Disease resistant
  • Thin skins and straight fruit
  • Bonnie Plants has over 70 greenhouses across the country, so our plants dont have to travel far to get to you

Prolific producer

Bought a one pack of these at a big box store in early April and put it in the ground that day. We’ve had an unusually cool spring and it endured multiple nights that got down in the 40’s, not optimal for cucumbers. It labored a little but turned on the jets when the weather warmed up. The vine chuckled at my five foot trellis and went over the top by late May. Prolific producer. We are using for salads and snacking. I like the taste of these over slicing varieties.

Cucumber Confusion!

These cucumbers not only resemble the sun, my gardening life has revolved around them this year! First, the plant is huge! As it’s grown over the trellis as well as everything nearby, other plants have fought back by growing taller- my basil is on stilts. As for the cucumbers themselves, they are also quite hefty. I was surprised by the golden yellow color, unsure if the cucumber was ripe or needed more time on the vine. I picked one to test- tasted just like a cucumber! The seeds inside are larger than those in more “traditional” cukes, and the skin is firm. Leaving the cuke on the vine just led to a larger, darker golden product. After reading more about these cucumbers, I decided to make pickles- they’re fantastic! The cucumber is crisp and flavorful. In hindsight, the tag that came with the plant did indicate a large growth area. I’ve enjoyed the summer surprises this plant provided, and will probably grow one again.

Yes, I recommend this product.
