The Barrette Outdoor Living Heavy-Duty Gate Wheel is a gate hardware accessory designed to assist opening and closing large, heavy gates. With a spring-loaded feature, the gate hardware kit adjusts to uneven ground and helps to eliminate gate sag. It works with wood gates and 3-1/2 in. or wider surfaces.

Q: It is remarked that it will work good in salt air with “ proper maintenance “. What is proper maintenance for a wheel with steel and Stainless Steel? Didn’t think two types of steel work well together. Thanks

- A: Other than cleaning and possibly tightening the bolts if they have become loose, no other maintenance would be needed. To keep it clean use wd40 or equivalent on the wheel bolt to ward off any corrosion.3 years agoHelpful?

- A: The gate wheel 73044963 will accept an 1 ½” Ubolt (purchased separately) that can be used to mount to a round post. An 1 ½” Ubolt has a standard inside dimension of 2”, which we believe will be to tight and not fit.3 years agoHelpful?

Very sturdy. I used two of these on two 10’ swinging gates. They work well and are attractive and easy to install. I used U-bolts available at TS.

Not even going to mount it.

Rated at 200 pounds. I don't think so. I can push down on it with one hand and collapse the spring half way without even trying. It is really really hard to find a gate wheel rated at 200 pounds that actually is built properly. I have found one gate wheel rated at 500 pounds which is actually as tough as it it suppose to be. I wish I could find an honest 200 pound rated wheel. I don't know why i thought the wheel was a larger diameter but its a tiny 5.5 inches. No way a 100 pound loaded wheel is rolling over anything but smooth concrete. If you need a true 200 pound rated wheel then keep looking.
