Equi-Jec 6 is a combination equine vaccination that protects against six infectious diseases, including Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE), Equine Herpesvirus (Equine Rhinopneumonitis), Equine Influenza, West Nile Virus (WNV) and Tetanus. No need to order syringes or needles as the pre-filled syringes contain the combination in a convenient 1 mL vaccine, meaning fewer needle sticks and less pain for the horse. This 6-way horse vaccine is approved for immunization of pregnant mares and horses 4 months old and older. Safety studies of 880 horses showed 98% were reaction free after two doses.1 Equi-Jec 6 offers a 12-month duration of immunity for West Nile Virus. Consult your veterinarian if a booster shot is recommended as a result of your geography or travel routine. For vaccination of healthy horses 4 months of age or older, including pregnant mares, as an aid in the prevention of disease caused by eastern and western encephalomyelitis and tetanus; as an aid in the reduction of respiratory disease caused by equine influenza virus (EIV) and equine herpesvirus type 1 and type 4, and as an aid in the reduction of severity of clinical disease and an aid in the prevention of viremia and mortality caused by West Nile virus. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. Do not mix with other products. In case of anaphylactoid reaction, administer epinephrine. In case of human exposure, contact a physician.

a year ago- A: Horses in the United States should be vaccinated against several core diseases that are highly infectious, potentially fatal, and pose public health risks. These include: Rabies Although rare, rabies is fatal and can expose many people before diagnosis. The Cleveland Equine Clinic recommends that all horses receive a yearly rabies vaccine. Tetanus This condition is often fatal and can develop after wounds or foot abscesses. West Nile virus For maximum effectiveness, this vaccine should be given in two doses, 3–6 weeks apart, with the last dose given before mosquito season begins. Horses also need an annual booster. Potomac horse fever This bacterial disease causes severe diarrhea and laminitis, and the vaccine is typically given yearly as a combination.a year agoHelpful?
