Q&As

1 - 10 of 11 Questions

Q: Is this safe for a raised garden bed regarding toxicity of the foam leaching into the surrounding soil?

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! Yes, fully cured BOA Hold Post Anchor foam is chemically inert and safe to use around a raised garden bed, meaning it will not leach toxic chemicals into your soil. While the liquid chemical components are hazardous during mixing and pouring, the expanding polyurethane material completely neutralizes once it hardens, presenting no threat to your vegetables or soil organisms. However, because the foam can be physically scraped or broken apart by shovels during routine garden digging, you should bury it deeply or shield it with a physical barrier to keep microplastic fragments out of your growing area.

I can’t overlook the price. . .

So first of all, this replaces 50lb bag of concrete. When an 80lb bag of Crete costs $5 and this replacement cost $27, who’s buying this? Also, what post is going to be held in with a 2’ hole (the depth you are using for calculations)? This product seems absurd and although maybe good for something, you better have big pockets if you want to use it to hold cows, horses, pigs, or anything farm related or subject to wind. How would you even use it with t posts? Good luck peeps I’m out!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Waste of time and money

Do not waste your money on it. The first bag broke open at the spout before I could mix it and spilled all over the place. The second bag, after following all directions, did not expand more than a half inch.

Disappointing

Good product but totally inadequate instructions! It is very difficult to break the seal between the two pouches containing the chemicals to mix them. I ended up having to step very carefully on the bottom pouch to create enough pressure to break the dividing line and two of them broke the wrong way, waisting the whole thing. Expensive and very irritating. When I did manage to mix the two pouches correctly, the stuff works as described

No, I do not recommend this product.
