Q: Will this melt snow that is already on the ground?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Neighbor- Bare Ground Mag Plus Liquid De-Icer works on snow-covered ground, but it is primarily designed as a pre-treatment (anti-snow) to prevent bonding. While it can melt up to 3 inches of snow, it works best when applied directly to pavement before a storm or 60-90 minutes after snow has fallen

Q: Is it safe for gravel driveways or will it cause the gravel to sink

1 Answer
  • A: If applied as a fine mist, the liquid should not cause the gravel to sink. It will however, coat the surface area of the gravel, but will also sink down in between the gravel. How much will depend on how densely packed the gravel is.

    Explored Reviews in Snow Country

I bought 3 gallons and had it shipped to my local store. I researched the manufacturer which started in 1996. Some reviews, like many products, are a mixture. This product is designed to basically create a non-stick surface. It is likely not much help in extreme, wet heavy snow, however traditional salt types are not perfect. I read reviews in parts of the country that get fair amounts of snow. I received the product after we had a heavy snow and likely won't get a chance this season to try it. The mfg. states that it is less damaging than traditional salts. It can be diluted and used on delicate plants to prevent or reduce damage. I have encountered damage from traditional ice melting products.

    Ice melt brine

It works ok for light icy conditions. If it is really cold it doesn't work at all but i guess that goes for most ice melt.

No, I do not recommend this product.
