The AniMed Flaxseed Oil Horse Supplement is made from flax seed, which is one of the richest plant sources of the essential omega-3 fatty acid, including omega-6 fatty acid and the essential alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Flaxseed oil for horses provides other supportive micronutrients, vitamins and minerals. This flaxseed oil horse supplement comes in a 1 gal. container. My Horse Had No Mane!

My gelding has horrible sweet itch every year. He would rub most of his tail and all of his mane off, including patches of skin on his neck. I was using topical relief products that helped, but in an effort to try to prevent the problem I ordered Animed Flax seed oil hoping to get it stopped. I've been pouring approximately 1 oz on his feed twice day for a little over two weeks. His tail is growing in nicely and as well as his mane. The rough, itchy skin at the base of his neck has cleared up and I haven't seen him scratching on the trees like before. We live in Arizona so the worst of our heat hasn't hit us yet. We have several months of extreme heat and midges ahead of us but I'm optimistic that he will fare better this year.

Easy to use oil blend

This oil is a flax seed oil blend and flax seed oil is the second ingredient after soybean oil. It was easy to use but I switched over to ground flax seed both for ease of precise measurement without having an oily measuring cup to clean and to better balance the omega profile recommended by my vet.

Purchased as a little calorie adder for my OTTB. I bought an after market pump to use on the bottle which makes addig to feed muc much easier. I give this oil once a day, every morning.
