Q: Lightning detector does it need to be out side

- A: The Lighting Detector can be used either outside or inside. When lightning is detected, the sensor will beep and the strike indicator will flash for each of the first 10 strikes. After 10 strikes, the sensor will enter silent mode but will continue to flash. The sensor will stay in silent mode for 2 hours after the last lightning detection. It is possible that if the lighting detector is near any major electronics while inside it may detect interference. Nice System could use a few tweeks

I purchased this unit to replace one that was damaged by a violent hailstorm. It works mostly as expected. I'm having a little trouble with the lightning sensor sending false positive strikes.
The one thing I'm wanting to be addressed is the fact that when a sensor is added to or reconnected to the main display ALL the saved information stored in the display is lost. i.e. Because this is a replacement system: I have a previously owned lightning sensor but to test it I lost ALL the information stored in the display, when I connected this weather station to my original display (I now have two) I lost the records of high temp of 114deg f July 10, 2026, and high wind of 78mph
I would love to see a display that can "find" a new sensor (or a sensor with new batteries) without needing a hard reset.

I bought this about a year ago and I am still fighting to get it to work. I get the temperature and that is about it. but it does beep a lot telling me lighting has struck on a clear cloudless day. Will keep trying to get it to work, but I am really disappointed on how I can't make it work and the pieces aren't far apart so there should be no issues. I have been using these type of items for years and have never had a problem. I should have returned it along time ago.
No, I do not recommend this product.

The unit works well. Very accurate right out of the box. My second one purchased. I do have issues with lightning detector reading false strikes constantly.

lightning detection does not work always says unable to detect lightning talked to service dept, sent me a couple of replacement detectors did not work think there is a problem with the screen won't replace nothing else said there is a problem where I live
