We used 16 mats to create a home gym. Turned out great. Weight of the mats holds them in place. Some rubber odor the first few weeks.

After reading the reviews on these mats I decided to take a chance and purchase them for a home gym. Almost every review stated that the mats had a strong rubber smell but it typically dissipated within a few days. I bought six mats and laid them out in the new workout space. After three days the smell was so intense (I could literally taste the rubber) that I dragged the mats outside and left them there for 3 WEEKS (flipping them over at 1.5 weeks). I then brought them back inside, scrubbed them with Dawn dish washing detergent (x2) and Lysol (x3) and also sprayed them with Febreeze multiple times. And they still stink. I bought these mats at the beginning of February and it is now April and the odor is still noticeable although bearable. They do the job as flooring for a home gym, and I like the fact that they're made from recycled tires, but be prepared to deal with the odor for quite some time. I'm sure horses don't mind the stench but this human does!
