Welded Wire Fencing
Mark property lines, confine children, pets and livestock and deter intruders with welded wire fencing from Tractor Supply. It’s ideal for everything from bounding fields and paddocks to building corrals and working pens to cordoning off orchards. Check out options to help you protect your Life Out Here.
Dependable Containment in Any Season
Welded fencing is comprised of wire fused at joints, creating a rigid mesh grid that’s less likely to bow or come apart. A stronger, harder-to-climb and cleaner-looking alternative to chain links, it is ideal for agricultural plots being obstruction-free, and it simplifies keeping an eye on crops and animals.
Construction That’s Built Tough
Most welded wire fences we offer are comprised of rugged steel, which has been galvanized or powder-coated to withstand corrosion-causing moisture. For higher durability and lower maintenance needs, consider stainless steel. Various gauges are available, and the thicker the gauge, the tougher the wire is to cut or for animal to gnaw through.
Customize Your Fencing
Offered in several various grid sizes, our options can effectively enclose animals such as chickens, goats, sheep and horses. Welded wire fencing also makes a great boundary for dog kennels and runs. Choose a paintable option to better match your property’s aesthetic, enabling you to customize how your fence looks and functions.
The Longevity You Need
Oftentimes, our welded wire fencing can last up to 10 to 15 years with proper care. It depends on your local climate and weather conditions, what the fencing is made of and how often you maintain it. Galvanized or stainless steel can last longer exposed to the elements, and you can help any fencing better stand the test of time and Mother Nature by cleaning debris and scrubbing corrosion off it regularly.
Frequently Asked Questions About Welded Wire Fencing
What's the difference between welded and woven wire fencing?
Woven fencing uses wires that interlock. Welded fencing, on the other hand, electrically joins wiring at intersections, making it not only more rigid and less likely to spring back upon impact, but also long-lasting and resistant to damage (especially cutting). Plus, unlike woven fencing, welded options come in pre-fabricated panels that install easily.
How do I install welded wire fencing?
First, you should consult the instructions from the manufacturer, including the any precautions or safety information included. For most installations, you’ll generally follow these steps:
- Using a post hole digger or hand auger, dig holes for the posts. They should be about 7 to 8 feet apart, depending on how long you want the fence to be.
- Drive the posts into the ground with a sledge hammer or post driver, attaching top and bottom rails between them.
- With a fence stapler and the proper hardware, fasten the mesh to each post and the top and bottom rails and repeat the process, tensioning the wire as you work.
- When you’re done, trim any excess wire and, if desired, add a cap rail to keep the wire in place and give the fence a finished look.
Consider burying the bottom of the fence to help prevent rodents and other pests digging under it.
