The History of Weber

The Weber story begins in Chicago in 1952, with George Stephen, a welder at the Windy City’s Weber Brothers Metal Works. Frustrated by the layout of traditional open brazier grills and looking for a shape that could control cooking temperature better, he settled on an unlikely inspiration for a redesign: a marine buoy. What resulted was no less than a revolution in and an icon of the grilling industry: the dome-lidded and vented Weber kettle grill.

From the grill’s inception, outdoor cooking was transformed practically overnight, becoming more accessible and enjoyable to everyone. Even now, Weber continues to innovate, offering a wide range of American-made charcoal, gas, electric and wood pellet grills of exceptional craftsmanship.
