Pneumatic hand truck wheels have tires filled with air. Flat-free wheels don’t depend on air pressure to hold their shape, so there’s no tire pressure to check.
Not quite. The tire is the outer part that contacts the ground. A wheel assembly combines the tire with the center section that mounts to the hand truck’s axle.
A tube-type tire holds air in a separate inner tube inside the tire. A tubeless tire holds air between the tire and rim without a separate tube.
The hub is the center section of the wheel where the axle passes through. Bearings sit within the hub and let the wheel turn around the axle. Some wheel designs have bushings instead of bearings.
Treaded wheels have grooves or raised patterns around the surface that contacts the ground. Smooth wheels have a mostly even rolling surface without a pronounced tread pattern.
