This is the fastest and easiest way to break chain to the right number of pitches either in the field or the shop. Each of my balers and swather has one in the tool box.

What a peice of junk!!

Purchased this tool to make a new drive chain for the snow blower on my tractor. Got one pin of the chain apart and when I tried to move to the next pin the screw shaft came apart in my hands. Now the handle to open the jaws had already fallen out of the jaws before I even got the tool on the chain to begin with. So I opened the jaws loaded it onto the chain and broke the first pin free. I backed the push pin out a couple turns and as I removed it from the long length of chain the threads gave way and that was that. Threads are completely stripped out of the block and the the screw pin is stripped as well. Now I am stuck without a snow blower and a forcast for 20" of snow over the next 3 days. Guess I will get the shovels warmed up.

Chain Breaker Tool does the job

Tool worked great. Needed this tool Tractor supply had it on hand for pickup. Tool worked fine for my 40 Chain which is 1/2 inch. Grind down the link you need to break and this tool easily lined up and pushed out the old link. Theres plenty of videos on youtube on grinding the old link.

Sorry there is no option for 0 stars. Made 3 separations then the tool failed. The material is too soft and the jaws deformed. It would no longer clamp the chain.

Absolutely terrible, could not break a chain at all, pushed the pen about halfway and couldn’t go any further.
