Your lifting setup is only as strong as its weakest component. If you use a 2-ton extension on a 4-ton jack, you reduce the safe capacity of the entire setup to 2 tons. If you attempt to lift a vehicle that requires the power of your 4-ton jack, the 2-ton extension could bend, snap, or slip, causing severe damage or injury.
