Tough1 Heavy Bareback Saddle Pad

I like this pad alright, but only after i made some alterations. The girth strap was way, way too big. I mean, my horse is still young, but there was at least a foot of empty space between the strap and her belly, and that's with it being on the smallest setting. The buckles are horrible, they come undone way too easily: both on the girth and the stirrups. I have some experience with both sewing and leatherworking, so I just ended up redoing the girth completely, so it cinches up the same way as a regular saddle. I had a spare girth pad(not sure if that's the right word) from a kid's saddle i wasn’t using, so i used that with it. I also had to shorten the stirrup straps a LOT, and i also changed the buckles on them. It's not my best work, but it turned out alright and now i can actually use this saddle without it slipping off, or without my stirrups hanging 2 feet below my boots. The purple is also a darker shade than the picture shows, which was slightly disappointing. I'm considering putting my sewing skills to use and sewing a different fabric cover on, to match the color scheme i wanted.
