Purina Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance Scented Non-Clumping Clay Cat Litter

This litter can be very dusty. Lately, it seems to be even worse. I use a plastic cup to scoop the litter out of the bag and into the litter boxes. As I'm scooping, it creates a cloud of dust over the boxes. It makes me cough, and I have to walk away from it so that I can breathe. A lot of times, my cats want to use the litter boxes right after I have cleaned them and put fresh litter in them, and I've learned that I have to keep them away from the boxes for a few minutes first until the dust settles more. One of my cats always ends up coughing if she gets too close to them too soon, and there have been a few times that she has coughed so hard that she has thrown up. I've tried other brands, too, and the non-clumping litter usually claims to be low dust, but I've never found one that was. Although, this most recent bag of Tidy Cats had so much powder in it, there's no way it wouldn't be dusty. I wish it was easier on the lungs, and it would also be really nice if it was unscented.

I really love this option of litter for when I’m on a budget but still need to get cat supplies. It’s just enough for her litter box and I only have one cat and keeps the smell at bay.

It was GREAT for so many years!! Now two stars. And that's solely for being better than releasing my 100% indoor cats into the wild to do their bidnez or having them go on my floors. This stuff can't be good for anyone or any cat. Just like so many other companies putting out a lesser product than before, and probably causing health issues we aren't aware of yet. Human nor pets are meant to inhale the amount of dust this stuff creates. I've been buying this "same" Tidy Cats litter- red bag, non-clumping- for over 20 years. Afraid to change now as my 15yo and 12yo cats may not like a new litter, and I don't want to stress them. So while I'm begrudgingly stuck using it, I'm no longer a fan. It is SO dusty! As in, I now I wear a mask to fill my cat's litter boxes and have to fan the air to keep it from getting in my eyes and clouding my vision. Yes, seriously. 99.9% dust free sounds good. But for a 30lb bag, that's, what, 1/8 - 1/4 cup of dust we're releasing into our homes, furnaces, and lungs per bag? At 2-3 bags a month (2 cats/3 boxes), that is a stupid amount of dust every year!! Your past formulas were so good!! Please make it better again?? Aside from the horrible dust, the consistency changes- from larger pebbles to very small ones that look almost like clumping litter. My cats don't like the fine grit batches. And I find none of the batches work as well either- litter boxes begin smelling in half the time. It used to work "24/7", now it's like 24/3. At best.
