A: Hi there, Per the vendor: You can use your fire pit on ANY surface, as long as you use a Stand. Our fire pits have a raised ash pan so the embers are never directly resting on the surface below. That being said, a Stand is REQUIRED on heat-sensitive surfaces, such as wood decks. If you plan on using the fire pit on a deck made of composite materials (e.g., Trex, Azek, Fiberon, Timbertech, etc.), have a manufacturer fire resistance rating from A to C. Check with your manufacturer or builder for what grade decking you have beforehand. To be safe, using a stand is required at all times when burning on composite and PVC decking.
