The service department of the previous company I worked for gave me one of the Skullerz 8960 bump caps - the only engineer they felt deserved this protection! The company makes satellite antennas for ships; these antennas have large counterweights mounted in tight radomes, so the chances of hitting your head are high. This cap has already saved me from a nasty gash from those 70 pound steel counterweights - you can see it above the 'C' in the photo. This hat is literally keeps you out of the emergency room. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bump cap saved me from a bump on my head on the very first day I used it. This one has a nice little foam piece inside the cap, making it way more comfortable than other bump caps I have seen. The 4 lights that are built in have a small battery pack on one side, but I didn't even notice that the first week I had it. The lights are very handy, making finding stuff in a poorly lit shop a breeze. Because I am in commercial tires, I am always under trailers and trucks setting jacks or pulling tires, and until wearing this bump cap, was always hitting my head on random pieces of metal. My wife was joking I was going to have to start wearing a helmet! This is much better looking than a helmet, and now I'm pretty sure I can be seen from space due to the lime color.I went with the short brim because due to my job, and it is still enough to block out some bright sun, but allows me a better field of vision when in a busy truck yard. I will say it is a touch heavier than a plain old bump cap, but you soon forget you have it on. Everyone I have let try it on were impressed with it. 5 stars!

The bump cap 8960 is simply fantastic and essential gear for every weekend warrior. I often wear a hard hat at work, but never at home despite being safety conscious. The 8960 gives just enough protection to significantly reduce swearing when working out in the garage or on remodeling projects. The LED are also fabulous to shed a little extra light when scoring the Sheetrock line or checking the oil fill on the dipstick. Plus, it’s cool enough to wear in public for lunch or the hardware store so I never need to take off or forget to put back on my head protection. Thank you for inventing the bump cap.
