Q: would this accommodate a male muscovy duck (basically a goose)

1 Answer
  • A: The Spring Fling Coop will work but the nesting box sits above ground. The duck would need to fly up to the nesting box. Or you can build a ramp for it?? Contact Rugged Ranch office and we are happy to send you images of the mobile coop 760-734-3748

Q: I’m confused…they are calling this a “coop”, but I see no door on the front to protect chickens from the elements and no roosting area for them to roost at night. Is there actually no door or roosting bar?

Two years and going strong

I waited to review this mobile chicken unit for a couple of years. It is smaller than it looks in the pictures but any bigger and it would be hard to move. I’m little but am still able to move it around the yard. I’ve seen a fox attempt to get in and fail. I did need to add some things: a tarp goes over the long sides and I secure it with blocks. This helps with predators and weather. I also put two poles through the sides and placed boards inside to give the chickens a place to roost. Last I added a mobile dog fence to give them a run during the day. For the price it’s a great unit. I love that I don’t have to mess with poop. I just move it. Chickens are healthy and happy. I would definitely recommend this.

AVOID AT ALL COST!

This coop does not protect your flock!!! I've had this coop for one week and lost two of my four birds from a predator, on two separate occasions, simply reaching in and grabbing them and eating them through the fencing. I can't believe that Tractor Supply even sells this. I researched coops for hours, and decided on this one (which is not the prettiest and certainly not the least expensive) only because I thought it would protect my birds. As my first major purchase from Tractor Supply, I can't tell you how disappointed I am with this product and the company offering something that simply doesn't work. Our family has been traumatized by waking up and running excitedly to the chicken coop to collect eggs, only to find feathers and bird remains scattered everywhere.
