Ruger .177 Caliber 10/22 Pellet Rifle

Not Ruger quality, it is built by Urmarex. Started out, the magazine wouldn't release. Broke a piece of plastic on the brittle plastic magazine, trying to remove it. I tried every trick that I could find on the internet. Finally got it to pop out by pulling the trigger and hitting the bottom of the rifle. Then about 3 mag refills later it froze again. This time the trigger or slide wouldn't function. I returned it and was issued a refund. I was told Tractor Supply is discontinuing this rifle and I can see why.

I’m giving a non-biased review of this gun, which, evidently, not many youtubers have. I only bought it because it was on clearance, today, at Tractor Supply (evidently they are going to stop carrying this gun). I added a cheap picatinny rail and 4x32 scope. I bought it with the thought of thinning out the squirrels that destroy my bird feeders, in the back yard, while living in the city limits, with neighbors close by; but it is lacking enough fps, with lead pellets, to produce penetrating energy. My feeders are 20-25 feet from my bedroom window, where I photograph birds from, so I sighted it in at 25 ft (not yards). I shot the cheap Daisy pointed lead, Crosman Premiere Destroyer 7.4gr and Hollow Point 7.9gr pellets. Of the 3, the heaviest (Crosman Premiere Hollow Point 7.9) grouped the best, and penetrated about the same as the Destroyers, and better than the Daisy. But none of them penetrated any more than my Crosman 760 Pumpmaster with bb’s. It was more accurate. It’s not a real semi-auto, but a double action/single action revolver. Shooting it as a double action is at least 10lbs trigger pull, so forget grouping, shooting it that way. Cocking it each shot by pulling back and releasing the charger handle cuts that in half, which is useable. So it’s much easier than pumping the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster 7-10 times each shot, is a little more accurate (because it's better built), feels much better, and looks very cool, just like the real Ruger 10/22 LR deal. Is it a squirrel rifle? No way. Look at the penetration photo, shot from 25 feet; it didn't penetrate any better than the Crosman bb gun. Yeah, it’s a cool plinkster, and that’s about it. While it's advertised as 700fps, it's more like under 500, with lead pellets, and after only 50 rounds, it started falling off quickly, and it takes 2 Co2 cartridges (vs 1 for the Crosman 1077). So it was a little disappointing, and I wish I’d held out for the Gamo Varmint, so I could actually kill the squirrels I shoot. I did take out 2 of 5, shot today, at about 25 feet; the other 3 spun around, ran off, and soon came back. And I didn't miss. The gun has no more power than a pump bb gun. Just Joe.

Came as a clearance item with no paperwork. Had to lookup online to see how to operate. Been pleased with the air gun. Lots of fun. Definitely operate with the bolt/single action option for a better trigger pull.

NO iron sights. Scope zeroed fro. Factory. Shoots hard and fairly consistent.
