Plastic handle

Purchased this with the thought I could use it for a long time. 5 months later the plastic in the handle broke making it unusable. My fault for not keeping the receipt, Ames fault for choosing to use plastic in a spot that is subject to stress. Didn’t even use it enough to wear the sticker off the blade.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Never Again Ames

The handle broke after just a few years. Pictures show very light use and no abuse. I sent pictures to Ames for warranty claim. They refused to help without receipt. I spent over an hour on the phone with Tractor Supply trying to get a copy of receipt (TS c/s lady was nice and helpful) but their system only goes back a 3-4 years. I even tried several other retailers just to be sure. I then called Ames c/s and not only did they not help AT ALL they asked me " how do we know you didn't buy it at a Flea Market or a yard sale?'" This was an expensive shovel with a lifetime warranty. Will try to avoid buying Ames products or products from their affiliated companies going forward.

No, I do not recommend this product.

poor quality

the razorback drain shovel with a fiberglass handle and plastic grip is of low quality construction for its intended purpose. when i purchased it i had my doubts that it would last very long compared to similar spades with robust wooden ash handle and metal grip. mine made it two years before the d-ring grip broke and the hollow fiberglass handle was rattlling. honestly it was probably used only a cpl dozen times around our house. relatively easy duty improving drainage swales and repairing irrigation sprinklers. dont waste your money ! rick s. woodlands tx.
