Q&As

1 - 10 of 13 Questions

Q: Can you use this in areas where people gather or does it need to be placed in areas away from where people gather?

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! The PIC Bug Zapper LED Light Bulb is most effective when placed 15 to 30 feet away from where people gather. Because its UV light attracts flying insects, installing it directly over your seating area will draw pests straight toward your guests. Placing it on a nearby perimeter allows it to pull the bugs away from your crowd while still keeping your patio bright and comfortable.

Really works!

Mosquitoes in Texas are the absolute worst. And I’m not a fan of wearing lots of bug spray, so I tried this bulb to see if it would help. Definitely does! We have it hooked up outside on our little deck, definitely helps keeps the bugs at bay!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Use for those fruit flies...

So I haven't had great luck with this light outdoors. Maybe one bulb isn't powerful enough for an outdoor sitting area. So I took it inside to my kitchen where I am always battling fruit flies bc I have a compost bin. It has only been a few days but so far so good.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Simple to use!

This PIS Insect Killer and LED is so easy to use! Simply unscrew a light bulb and screw this zapper/light in! This is a great item that doesn't take up any extra space - no need for a large, bulky zapper! You can use this indoors or outdoors depending on where your mosquito problem is. You can use it just as a light, just as a zapper, or both giving you plenty of options. Great product to help rid your area of mosquitoes!

Yes, I recommend this product.

This is a great product. The light itself gives off a really nice glow, great ambience for a porch in the evening. The bug zapper seems to work well! Very cool to have a product that will help control the bugs and also offer nice lighting for summer evenings.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Awesome mosquito zapper!

This is great to have to zap those pesky mosquitoes and gnats that are abundant where I live. I decided to put it on my front porch since I do go outside to smoke quite a few times at night. It not only zaps those bugs, but it is also a very well lit light for my front porch. My kids think it's cool so that's also a plus.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works great!

I live out in the middle of no where and also right by the river. We have an insane amount of bugs out here and they are constantly getting in my front door. I had previously purchased a bug light to try and cut down on the amount of bugs that would fly in when I opened my front door but it didn't work nearly as well as what I needed. This product works! It kills all the bugs that are attracted to the light and it also doesn't compromise the light like a bug light does. It's super dark at night at my house, so I like that this is an LED.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Zaps a lot of bugs!

This Insect Killer & LED is a really cool alternative to help control bugs. I really like that there aren't chemicals involved and it attracts the bugs to zap them instead. I use this on my porch light to keep the bugs attracted away from my full window door. Usually the bugs are swarming the window towards the light so when the door is opened, a rush of bugs comes through. This helps draw them away from the door and get rid of them. I didn't give a full 5 stars for a couple of cons - it lists mosquitos as a targeted bug but when I clean out the dead bugs I'm not seeing any mosquitos so I'm not sure mosquitos really go for the light. Second, it says it's rated for dry locations only. I'm assuming a covered porch is fine but in general, all my outdoor porch light fixtures are rated for indoor/outdoor due to the high humidity down here in the south. Surely they didn't design this to only be inside but the warning makes me unsure.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I have to add the disclaimer, I live in Louisiana..we have A LOT of mosquitoes. After using this for 2 weeks there is hardly any mosquitoes in the tray however, I still have them landing on me next to the light. Maybe they have out smarted the light? But I wouldn’t get another one of these.

Kills bugs, but attracts them

I thought this may be different than other bug zappers I have purchased. While it does do a good job in zapping the bugs, it also attracts way more. There ends up being more bugs flying around than there would have been without it. Also, when there are flying bugs around, spiders come around. If you do use this, I would put it far away from where you plan on being.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I liked it a lot, the light is intense, white and bright, it provides excellent lighting for my garden, at this time where there are so many insects it is fabulous, with that led light that helps attract and trap them, I recommend this double effect bulb with a lot of confidence and more if you live in the south and in this time where so many insects abound, you can be calm outside in the open air.

Very Cool!

This is a pretty good bag zapper and light combination. I think it's really cool how it can kill those pesky bugs and also be a light too! It's getting into the season of the annoying flying insects that like to sneak into the house every time the door opens. Well this zapper helps take care of that problem. I have a light socket right outside above my front door so this was the perfect spot for this. Zap them before they get in! I could also use it inside the house to zap them as soon as they get in. The blue light is kind of cool looking at night and I can switch it to the LED to light up the room or by the door. I just have to get my little step stool to reach the light and pull out the tray to discard the dead bugs. I really like this and I think this would be perfect to have at the front door and the back door!

Yes, I recommend this product.

what a awesome light that helps keep the bugs away plus light up the yard . this light is very easy to use just plug it in and turn it on . i was so happy to find out that all you have to do is pull a little tray out to clean the bugs plus they give you a little brush to help sweep out the zapper part. this is a 2 in 1 because the bottom half is a bright light while the top in a zapper and helps get all kinds of bugs not just mosquitos . i highly recommend this product to anyone who enjoys the great outdoors but hates the bugs

Easy to use, convenient, not effective

As a hard-working single mom, my days off are incredibly important to me and when I get a day off, my family loves to gather in the backyard and chill out, laugh together, play games and barbecue long into the night. I noticed that as the Texas weather began to get warmer, the amount of flying and biting insects was increasing ten-fold in my backyard and my family felt like they were being eaten alive!! I decided I needed some help and tried an easy to install, easy-to-use dual-purpose PIC ((Pest-Free Living) Insect Killer LED Light Bulb. But, while the LED bulb provided sufficient light for anyone in the immediate vicinity; it was NOT effective protection against Texas insects. I don't think more than 10-12 bugs were killed or zapped in a 5-6 hour period!! I definitely need a more effective insect-kill protection for all these GINORMOUS Texas flies and mosquitoes!

No, I do not recommend this product.

KILLS BUGS WHILE PROVIDING LIGHT!

I was extremely happy to receive this Pic bug killer and LED light! I know EXACTLY where I am going to place this! Outside my house I have two motion director lights. Big toads hang out on there waiting for bugs. I am hoping to get rid of both when there are no more bugs for the toads to catch. 1 really like this product, would definitely purchase again, and will recommend to my family and friends!

I got this a week ago and have been turning it on at night. Seems to do the job because there are dead mosquitoes in the removable tray, which is a nice feature. When I turn the light on other flying insects will get caught in it too. Overall I’m very pleased!

The PIC - Insect Killer & LED bulb is so convenient. All we did was put it in where are normal porch lantern is and it is great. You have a regular light as well as the insect killer led and you can have them both on or you flip the switch twice and just the insect killer led stays on. I also notice that the regular white bulb seems to not attract as many bugs as our old regular light bulb.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not convinced.

So far this hasn't picked up any bugs. Maybe it's too early in the season but the results are lacking so far. Also there's a problem with the design; the base is the standard size but the bulb part is so wide that some outlets that are a little deeper won't work well with this design.

I switched out the light on my back patio with the PIC LED lightbulb to keep away flying insects while we enjoy time outside. Instillation was very easy as the bulb will fit any standard socket. Kills flying insects on contact without using any dangerous chemicals. That’s a win for my family!

The PIC LED Bug Zapper is a great addition to our home. Just screw it in the regaular outside light socket and the dual-purpose bug zapper goes to work. The zapper utilizes LED and blue UV light to draw in flies, moths and mosquitos. The 920 lumen LED light lights up the porch or deck and the 2000 volt electric grid kills the pesky insects quickly.

Lights Doorway & Helps with Bugs

This was easy to install - just unscrewed the old bulb and screwed this one in. Provided enough light to see and use keys to unlock front door, which is the main use. The issue with spring and summer was all the bugs - moths, mosquitos, and mosquito hawks/crane flies. Coming home when it's dark and having to battle the insects flying at head level while you fiddle with the keys and door lock became super annoying. And inevitably there were always a couple that snuck into the house even when you opened and closed with ninja speed. This new bulb has deterred some of the bugs and killed others. Noticeable difference on our front porch. The bulb has a catch tray inside it to catch the small bugs it kills with the blue UV light. Easy to slide open and clean out. Depending on how bug infested the area is, you might need to do this more often.

Yes, I recommend this product.
