- A: Oxbow’s network of hay growers follow practices of good land stewardship in order to ensure quality crops year after year. As such, Oxbow hay has minimal treatment of herbicides and pesticides throughout the growth cycle, with use being limited to preserving crop integrity. The withdrawal period for these applications is 30 days and most pesticides or herbicides have a 10-14 day waiting period before harvesting. These waiting periods are followed strictly by all Oxbow hay growers, ensuring the integrity and safety of all Oxbow hay crops. Furthermore, if you are interested in an organic option for your pets, our Organic Meadow Hay is 100% USDA certified organic and is thereby guaranteed to contain no pesticides.4 years agoHelpful?
Q: I would like to use manure from rabbits, who have been fed your Oxbow Timothy & Meadow Hay, in my organic vegetable garden, but am concerned about possible negative effects if this hay has been prepared with any glyphosate, any aminopyralid, etc. Has it?

- A: Glyphosate (Round-up) is not readily used by grass forage producers in general, as it is a non-selective herbicide, meaning it kills or damages any plant with which it comes in contact, unless the plant has been genetically modified to resist the product. Along the same lines, none of our producers use aminopyralid (Milestone) as it resides in the soil and may prevent plant growth. In short, not only is our Timothy Meadow Hay safe to feed your bunnies, but it is safe for you to use your rabbit’s feces as fertilizer in her garden.7 years agoHelpful?

NEVER GET RID OF THIS HAY!!!!!

My boyfriend and I just bought this hay today and my guinea pigs are absolutely nuts for this particular hay and they are SUPER picky about their hay! I filled their hay bin to the tippy top and they ate about half of it in like 2 hours! I will never buy another hay!!!

Huge Disappointment! :(

My rabbit has been LOVING this hay for about a year straight now, this was his all time FAVORITE hay. He loved it so much. And he is a VERY picky rabbit. All of a suden the quality dropped immensely, and it doesn't even seem the same at all. I don't know what happened, but I am so disappointed because my rabbit is so picky with hay and now I have to try and find another hay that he will eat. I thought we had finally found a hay that we could rely on to always be good (no "bad bags") but it seems every time I order now, the hay is always horrible. It also smells VERY bad now, I can't describe the smell, it just smells like bad hay, it used to smell SO good! But now every bag smells rancid, and that makes me not even want to use it as litter. This used to be the best hay I have ever seen. And we have tried literally every type of hay and every brand I have ever heard of, to find the "perfect" hay for my spoiled boy. I am just extremely disappointed that this hay changed.

good, large bag of ay

I was looking for the Oxbow timothy meadow hay for one of my bunnies and this large bag was the only one in stock at the time. It's worked out well although there are some fine pieces. The bunny who gets it enjoys it a lot and I imagine it will last quite a while. The hay is nice, green, and pretty soft.
