Apios Americana Ground Nut is a vining perennial that produces edible legumes that taste like a mixture of nuts and potatoes and pack in three times the protein of traditional potatoes. Blooming all summer long, these reddish purple flowers look similar to Wisteria. This plant can be left to trail along the ground or can be trained to grow onto a fence or trellis. At maturity, the Apios typically grows to be about 6 in. tall and 8-16 ft. long.
