Q: Does this heater require a filter when connected to a 20lb tank, similar to the filters used on other big buddy heaters?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your inquiry. The Buddy Flex Heater (F600100) does require a fuel filter when connected to a 20 lb. propane cylinder, unless you use the 10' Buddy Series Hose (F273704). This specific hose is made out of a special material so it does not leak oils and residue into the fuel line like other propane hoses do. Some other hoses that work with the Buddy that require a fuel filter include F273701, F273702, F273703-60, and F273703-144. Have a great day!

Q: Is this heater safe for heating my indoor workshop?

2 Answers
  • A: The Buddy Heaters can be used safely indoors using 1 lb. propane cylinders, or with a hose and larger cylinder as long as the cylinder is kept outdoors. The Buddy Heaters are equipped with an ODS sensor that shuts off the fuel if the oxygen level in the room drops from 21% (normal air) to 18.5% oxygen by volume or below. Have a great day!

  • A: Yes you’ll need a hose to it with a large tank. If you use the small bottles, the same ones you use for lanterns, then no.

Don't buy this

Do yourself a favor and don't buy this. I've had one for 2-3 years and have only used it a couple times in that timeframe and now it will no longer light despite trying everything to fix it. Mr. Heater's customer service is no help either and they don't stand behind their products.

No, I do not recommend this product.

So far have only used it once but it's a really nice heater. I do like that it's got a windshield over the pilot light to keep it from going out. This thing also hooks up to a mini stove attachment which is really cool. Pretty nice heater

Meh

I will keep it for emergencies but I wouldn’t buy it again. From a 1 lb cyclinder run time is 1.5 hr on high, 3.5 on low. With a 20 lb tank runtime is only 36-72 hours. Hugely expensive to run. Plus, if you want to run it from an external tank you have to buy their adapter hose and additional fuel filter. You are better off just buying the regular screw on one for $60 on TEMU. Yes, you can refill your own one pound canisters but do you want to do that every three hours? Not me. Be aware that in Nov 2024 Newsome signed into legislation the banning of all sale of one pound canisters.

No, I do not recommend this product.
