Q: Does this torch have a pilot light that stays burning until you shut the gas valve off? I just want to know if every time I let go of the handle that controls/allows the flame if the flame goes out completely or does a small flame remain keeping it ready

This has restricted flow fittings

Due to restricted flow fittings, I couldn’t char wood, and I couldn’t burn weeds with it either. After comparing to one I already own, I saw that the propane fittings restrict flow. I wasted money on this one. Went online and bought a 1.8 million btu which actually works like my old one.

I did not experience any issues with this torch. I did what the INSTRUCTIONS SAID and it worked perfectly on a new tank of 20 lb propane.
If using to augment snow removal, do not try to melt snow directly, it will not work as one would want as snow is a good insulator. Instead, remove most of the snow and warm the surface with the torch so the snow melts from the bottom up from the surface warming.
After, apply salt so it does not refreeze!
There is a limit to the high and low temperature of the environment when in use - the hose and seals can only take so much abuse. It was roughly 5-10°F tonight and the hose was quite stiff, as you’d expect for most rubbers in the dead of winter.

I turned it on as high as it would go and a weak flame was all I could get. held it on ice for 10 mins, nothing but soot marks.

Cheap isn't always good

used for about 5 minutes and the throttle/valve/whatever failed. switched out three different bottles thinking surely it wasn't the torch. It's getting returned today. Get a different brand and/or spend a little more money and you'll appreciate that you did.

Works but expensive and poorly designed. The use of a wheel to control gas output was a poor decision as it is difficult to finely tune with your thumb while using. For the money it should be perfect.

Worked great for me. It is very easy to close the valve due to excess flow of gas from the tank. Follow the instructions (bottom of page 5) and you should get it back to working properly. FYI- this happens often on gas grills as well.

Easy to use works well on grass sticker weeds. Will find out next year if it did its job of destroying all the seeds in the seed head. However, after a couple of hours of use the pressure is not strong enough to keep continued heat, kind off dies down into a yellow flame. Will try a 40 gallon propane tank and hope this will help keeping it going. Waiting on call back from technical support. Be sure to check for leaks with soapy water prior to use. We bought 2 different ones back to back from different retailer and they both leaked gas!!!!! Glad TS had one in stock that was working as it should.

Great piece of solid equipment. It seems to be made of very good quality material. Sturdily made and extremely powerful, with impressively variable output. The only thing lacking is a handle for the front portion, as the device is quite front-heavy, but one can safely hold it by the metal pipe all the way up before the black torch head...so it would be more a comfort/ergonomic option

Weed torch took a minute to warm up to me

A Propane weed torch is something I have always wanted. I took the chance a bought one from my local TSC. When I got home and hooked it up to my bottle I was a little disappointed. The flame was like a big lazy candle. I read the instructions, again. I found nothing to indicate a fix. I turned to the TSC website reviews and found similar issues. One was to completely disassemble the head unit and clean out any excess joint sealant. Instead. I returned to my local TSC and switched for a new unit. It works, my weed burner is getting it's work out now. Again, great customer service from my local TSC team saves the day

Purchased our 2nd one of these and both had the same issue - the hose starts to disconnect at the wand. Thought the first one was just a defective one, but then the 2nd one had the same issue after using it a couple of times ☹️.

Bought this torch to burn thorns from prickly pear cactus so cattle could eat the pear leaves. Works great. Valve on propane tank should be opened slowly to prevent safety device from tripping. Have not experienced any negative issues.

This is actually my 2nd purchase of this product. I bought my first one in Hawaii for my son. We worked on clearing his one acre property. It worked so well, I bought a second one when I returned home to California. This product is excellent for burning weeds! It does exactly what the description says it will do. Comes with everything except a propane tank. Easy to follow instructions. Just attach the hose, and you’re ready to go in less than 2 mins.

Bought to burn weeds in back yard and to burn wood. Took 4 hours to burn 12 boards, along with 2 plus days to burn a back yard. The torch part doesn't not work at all. Tried to send a message to mr.hearter and no reply a month later.
