We’ll have to see if it works on the hood.

Online it looks like this would work perfectly good on my new Jeep. However, after receiving it, it looks like it might scratch the hood when applying it to the side of the hood?

This is a great antenna. The antenna performance is fantastic. This was used on a nmo l bracket on the passenger side rear of the car. It performed better than my antenna specialist 5db gain 1/2 wave over 1/2 wave.
