Cold Burnt combs. Returns black to red

Rooster comb got freeze burnt. In center and some on tips. Mild cases it returns color to the area within 24 hours. Worst , several layers deep has taken close to a week. Scabbing is evident; I continue regardless. Free ranging presently, no picture
