Q: Is this 110v or 220v

  • A: Hello Wilev, thank you for checking in with us — it’s completely understandable that you’d want to confirm the voltage before setting up your air conditioner. The LW1224IVSM operates on 115V / 60Hz, which is standard household voltage in the U.S. You can review the full electrical specifications here: https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw1224ivsm-window-air-conditioner If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

Q: Does this unit have a dimming display?

  • A: Hi there, we appreciate you reaching out, and we understand you’re checking whether the LW1224IVSM window air conditioner includes a dimming display. It’s great that you’re thinking about comfort details—especially if this unit will be used in a bedroom or workspace. This model features a standard LED display, but it does not offer a dimming or display‑off setting. The good news is that the display is small and designed to stay subtle so it won’t distract from the unit’s ultra‑quiet performance. Here’s the official LG USA page for your model: • https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw1224ivsm-window-air-conditioner If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

Q: Please… Does this unit dehumidify to a specific relative humidity %, and what is that humidity level (or range)? Will this unit tell me the humidity level of the room it is occupying? Thank you.

  • A: Unlike a standalone dehumidifier, the LG 12,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1224IVSM, does not dehumidify to a specific relative humidity, nor does it show the humidity level of the room it is installed in. Its primary function is to cool your room. The unit's Dry (Dehumidifying) mode is ideal for rainy and damp days, and does not provide any cooling. It removes humidity from your room by the combination of compressor operation and the fan speed fixed at low. The compressor and fan turn off once the set temperature is reached. The fan speed cannot be adjusted in Dry mode. However, this feature does not work as effectively as a dehumidifier, since it’s not an AC’s main purpose. The amount of humidity expelled is measured by Pints per hour (Pts/Hr), and our specifications for this unit list 3.6 Pts/Hr for DEhumidifying for the AC...^Ivan.

Q: Do I need some support brackets to hold up this air conditioner?

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Unlike a split system or central air units, for which a support bracket is often necessary, pulling your bottom window sash down behind the upper guide on the LG 12,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner Model # LW1224IVSM, and attaching the left and right curtain panels to your window sashes help to hold the unit securely in your window, but for an extra safety precaution, you can still use a support bracket - but it isn't needed. However, in some cities, air conditioner brackets are required for all window-mounted air conditioners. This requirement is enforced by the Department of Buildings (DOB) and is outlined in the city’s building code. Texas does not have a specific building code requiring support brackets for all window air conditioners. Requirements may vary at the local level, so it is important to check with your city or county for specific regulations...^Ivan.

Q: What are the differences between the LW1222IVSM and LW1224IVSM models? Both are labeled as "DUAL Inverter," though the specs for LW1222IVSM say the compressor is "Variable Speed Rotary" vs "Dual Inverter" for the 24 model. Does 22 really draw more amps?

  • A: Hey there, Sm25! Thanks for reaching out—we’re always happy to help you find the perfect fit. When comparing the LG LW1222IVSM and LW1224IVSM, there are a few key things to know. The LW1222IVSM features a Variable Speed Rotary compressor, while the LW1224IVSM is equipped with a Dual Inverter compressor, offering enhanced energy efficiency and quieter performance. Both deliver 12,000 BTU of cooling, though the LW1224IVSM may operate more optimally thanks to its advanced compressor. The LW1222IVSM draws 10.8 Amps during cooling, while specific specs on the LW1224IVSM may vary slightly—checking product details will give you the best insight. If you’re looking for quieter operation and energy savings, the Dual Inverter might be the cool breeze you're after. 🌬️ Feel free to send us a private message @LGUSSupport anytime—we’re always here to guide you. ❄️ ^Anthony

Q: Can I plug this into a 2ft heavy duty extension cord?

Originally posted on lg.com

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, Jimmy ds. Our manual for the LG 12,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1224IVSM, explicitly warns against the use of an extension cord with the air conditioner and Fire Marshals also warn against using extension cords with air conditioners. Extension cords and power strips are for temporary use and can't safely handle the high current that air conditioners use, and they advise to never use an extension cord with a major appliance, as it can overheat and start a fire. Regrettably, we cannot advise you about using your 2 Ft, heavy-duty extension cord with the air conditioner. We do not know the specifications for your 2 Ft Heavy-duty extension cable and that is a liability issue...^Ivan.

Q: Thank you for the answer on the depth dimensions. Can you provide me with the depth dimensions of the unit without the front part? I need to know how far it will protrude outside the window.

  • A: Hello, Thom S. How far the LG 12,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1224IVSM, will protrude outside the window depends on the depth of your window sill. The track for the left and right curtain panel that you pull the bottom of your upper sash down onto to help secure the air conditioner in your window is a few inches behind the front part of the air conditioner...^Ivan.

Cools room fast!

This LG window AC cools the room fast, which is a huge plus during those super hot days. The included remote makes it really easy to control, and it comes with some nice features that are simple to use. One thing to keep in mind is that it is pretty big, so installation might take a bit of effort, especially if you’re doing it solo. But once it’s in place, it works great and keeps the space nice and cool. Overall, a solid, reliable AC that does exactly what you need it to.

Great air conditioners and very quiet and cool

purchased two 12,000BTU LG inverter air conditioners and one 10,000BTU air conditioner to replace MEDIA ac factory recall these Ac run super quiet and very cold only have them for a week now very satisfied with them but for some reason the 10,000 BTU unit is not as quiet as the others not a deal breaker I would consider hiring a profession AC installer as these unit are quite heavy about 90pounds and dont forget the heavy duty window bracket up to165 pounds each worth the price

Nice AC unit

The box itself was heavy but this is a great air conditioner especially since you can control how cool you want it to be and it has wonderful features. Installation was fairly easy and I like the fact it has a power saver mode too.
