Q: Do I need to thin out the paint to run through a sprayer

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Timc490310! No, you can use this paint in a sprayer without thinning it. While it is formulated to be sprayer-ready, you may thin it with water if required by your specific equipment. For best results, use an airless sprayer with a .017" to .021" tip and a 30 to 60 mesh filter.

Q: Can i use this paint on open cell spray foam?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. This paint is formulated for exterior surfaces like wood, metal, and masonry. Open-cell spray foam is not listed as a recommended surface for this product, so we can’t confirm compatibility. If you need to paint spray foam, it’s best to use a coating that the foam manufacturer specifies for that application.

Q: I applied 20 gallons with a sprayer to our 3 rail wood fence. It looks gray in the sun, black when it’s overcast. Is this normal?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, this color shift is normal for most black latex fence paints, including Lexington Pro Black, and is primarily caused by how the paint finish interacts with different lighting conditions.

Good paint bad pail

The paint is great. Easy to use and coverage is good. My only gripe is the plastic pail integrity. I purchased 6 pails and had one unopened pail left over. It developed a leak in the pail and most of the contents are now on my barn concrete floor.

Great Farm Fence Paint

In a short two day timeframe my wife and I went through 4.5 buckets of this to paint our 4 board farm fence around our one acre property. We used an Avanti branded paint sprayer from Harbor Freight and we had no issues at all. I only did a quick mix with a 5gal paint mixer and a drill and then we were back on the paint! This is really a great all around paint.

Fence paint

I tried it. Not overly impressed with it. No way a sprayer could be used. It's too thick. Goes on on wit a roller. You will need to use a nappy roller. Be prepared to throw it away when you are done. I put it on fence boards before installation. Three days later it was still sticky when I installed the boards. If you get it on you you'll need mineral spirits to get it off. Does not clean up with soap and water. I won't use it again. I'll go back to latex paint.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Successful paint project

Used 40 gal of Lexington latex black paint on our fences. Needed only one coat. One day it rained a couple hrs after painting and that days paint didn’t wash off. Paint was consistent across the container. Applied with brushes and rollers. Very satisfied.

WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!

I expected it to "get the job done" but nothing impressive and to be a watered down black considering the price. But it was very thick after mixing and I WAS SHOCKED at the coverage of 1 coat! I painted some pallets that were extremely rough and not sanded at all, and this stuff turned them a perfect satin dark black with only 1 coat with a brush. I'm not kidding when I say that I used less than half of a plastic Solo Cup full of it to cover every inch of a 44 inch x 44 inch pallet. Looked just as good as any exterior paint that I would have bought for $30-45 PER GALLON. Never again will I buy any exterior black paint besides this.

I used this to spray 1/2 mile of 3 board horse fence. I is easy to spray, covers well, and easy to clean up. I used an airless sprayer with a 6 inch spray pattern and it covers per the manufactures label - 1 gallon per 16 feet.

Is this normal?

Covered good but seems to stay sticky in this humidity in Oklahoma. We used it on a old steel fence. I noticed after over two weeks when we mowed grass stuck to it because it was still tacky.

Excellent Paint

I painted pressure treated fence that had been up for 4 months so that it would dry out. This paint went on smoothly and really covers so well it does not need a second coat. I will put a second coat on anyway though. The black is a true black. I have a second 5 gallon bucket that I thought about taking back but it is so good and at a great price I will keep it and may do some other outdoor painting.
