KBS XTC Primer is a zinc rich, high temperature, corrosion resistant primer for use under XTC high heat paint. XTC bonds to properly prepped metal without a primer, but XTC Primer adds rust and corrosion protection on parts that live outside or see moisture, such as tractor exhaust stacks, mufflers, wood stoves, furnaces, grills, and smokers. It is rated for continuous temperatures up to 1200 F. Apply about 1 mil, then topcoat with one coat of XTC in the color of your choice and heat cure. This 5 gallon pail is sized for shops and fleets. The surface must be dry and free of dirt, oil, rust, and other contaminants. Sandblasting is ideal; otherwise remove loose rust with a wire wheel or 60 to 80 grit, wash with KBS Klean diluted 10 to 1, rinse, and dry. XTC Primer is heavily pigmented, so mix 5 to 10 minutes with a drill mounted mixer such as the KBS Hurricane Paint Mixer. Apply between 60 and 80 F at about 1 mil, then topcoat with one coat of XTC about 1 mil. Let the final coat dry at least 8 hours, then heat cure at about 350 F for 20 to 30 minutes. Clean up with KBS number 1 Thinner or lacquer thinner.
