KBS Rust Converter is a rust converter paint in a 12 oz aerosol. It reacts directly with iron oxide and converts active rust into a stable, inert, flat black primed surface, so you can stop rust on trailers, gates, implements, truck frames, and equipment without heavy wire brushing or grinding down to bare metal. It works by chemical reaction, not by covering the rust up, and the converted surface seals out moisture and resists heat up to 250 F. Leave it as a matte black finish or topcoat it after 24 hours. It dries to the touch in about 10 minutes, and one can converts up to 20 sq ft of rusted steel. Apply when the can is between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.Knock off loose, flaking rust and scale with a wire brush, and clean off grease and oil. The rust left behind is what the converter reacts with, so there is no need to grind to bare metal. Shake the can well. Spray in light, even coats and let it convert. It is dry to the touch in about 10 minutes; wait 24 hours before a second coat or a topcoat. Heavily corroded areas may need a second can.
