KBS Coatings BlackTop, 8 oz., OEM Satin Black

KBS BlackTop in OEM Satin Black is a single stage, moisture cured urethane topcoat built for equipment that lives outside. It goes on direct to bare metal with no primer required, and it also bonds over RustSeal, epoxy primer, or existing paint, making it the go to black for tractor and implement frames, loader arms, gooseneck and utility trailers, truck chassis, mower decks, bush hogs, gates, and wrought iron. BlackTop is permanently UV stable, so it will not chalk or fade the way ordinary black enamel does after a season in the sun. It is rock hard yet flexible enough to expand and contract with the metal, and it has been salt spray tested to 1000 hours on its own and 2000 hours when applied over RustSeal, which matters on anything that sees road salt, fertilizer, or manure. This is OEM Satin Black, the factory correct low sheen look at 55 to 65 percent gloss. Brush it, roll it, or spray it, and it self levels so brush marks flow out. No hardener and no clear coat needed. This 8 oz covers about 25 sq ft at 2 mils and is sized for touch ups, small brackets, hardware, and repairs. Proudly made in the USA.Apply BlackTop to a clean, dry surface. Use KBS Klean to remove dirt and grease, and avoid solvent based cleaners that leave a residue. For the best rust protection, seal bare metal with RustSeal first, then topcoat with BlackTop. On other painted surfaces, scuff lightly with 320 grit, then clean and dry. Do not shake the can. Stir thoroughly so the pigments are well dispersed, pour a working amount into a separate container, and reseal the can right away. Never pour unused paint back into the can. Apply at 55 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit in 30 to 70 percent humidity by brush, roller, or spray. Apply one or two thin covering coats at about 2 mils for general use, and at least two coats for marine or industrial work. Thin 5 to 10 percent with KBS number 1 Thinner or xylene only if needed. Recoat once the previous coat is dry to the touch and leaves no fingerprint, and before 24 hours. Past 24 hours, scuff with 320 grit first. Full cure is 48 hours. Clean up with KBS number 1 Thinner before the paint dries, as cured BlackTop cannot be removed by any solvent. Always work in a well ventilated area and wear protective gloves and eye wear.
