This stuff is the best for fixing aluminum or steel. I used it on my aluminum window screen where a piece was rusted. PERFECT

Does not work on steel fuel tank

I have used this product on many things. Steel and some plastics. It has always worked good or better than expected. I was happy to see that it was recommended to be used on steel gas tanks. I am sorry to say it does not. I have a pinhole leak at about the 1/4 height of my tank. After running the tank to almost completely empty and sanding the area to bare metal I found this product will not stick to the tank. Even though it was sunny and 80 out i tried to use a heat gun to warm the metal and this product still would not stick to the sanded area. In the past I have never experienced a problem with this product sticking to anything. I have no idea why it wont stick but when I tried to put it on the tank all it did was stick to my thumb and when I looked the product was all smooth and shinny where it had come in contact with the tank. The tank is steel, 1999 F150, but what ever type of steel it is made of is incompatible with this product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

durable patch on aluminum heater core tube

My neighbor gouged a tear in the inlet pipe of the heater core on his F150 5.0 while trying to remove the "quick release" fitting with a flat-bladed screwdriver. Needless to say, R&R on the heater core would be an expensive nightmare. I suggested trying to patch the tear/puncture with SteelStick. I roughed up the area around the puncture with some sandpaper, then smeared on the SteelStick. The outside surface of the repair had to be flush with the inlet tube to allow the heater hose to be reattached, so I smoothed it with my finger. A year and 10K miles later the patch has been leak-free.

Yes, I recommend this product.
