It's a great little saw.....

I have two Stihl 290 farm boss saws purchased in 2002 & 2009, both saws still run great without problems, the Husky 440e has a smaller motor and is 5pounds lighter than the 290's but if you keep a sharp chain and know how to cut fire wood the saw does pretty well for it self. (All three of my saws have 18"bars)... When you get older (like me) a lighter saw is a big advantage cutting 8 cords of firewood, and this saw seems to be ok..... BUT unlike the Stihl 290 with its big 54cc motor; the Husky 440e saw only has a 40cc motor so keep the chain sharp or you will invite problems....

WARNING DO NOT BUY A HUSQVARNA

I bought a Husqvana 440E and right from the box had nothing but TROUBLE. I used top grade fuel and Husqvarna oil filled it up with the fuel mixture and bar oil, it started right up I thought alright time to go cutting wood "WRONG" Every time I would start into a log it would bog down, heck you wouldn't have be cutting and it would bog down. I haven't ran 2 tanks of fuel through it and nothing but trouble, I took it to 2 different authorized husqvarna repair centers to get it fixed I thought maybe the Carb needed adjusted but no, one place told me I had a piece of junk the other place is still working with it but said they've replaced almost everything on the saw and it's still doing it. These repair guys seem real nice and are really trying but they say they are stumped so now I guess we're waiting on Husqvqrna to decide what to do with the saw but in the meantime I need to be cutting wood. I mean this is a brand new saw come on.

Waste of money - waiting for support

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I owned a 445 model chainsaw that worked great and needed to replace it. I bought a 440 model and after less than 4 hours of use the chainsaw will start up, but quickly dies and appears to leak lubricant at a fairly high rate. No access to talk to a person about the issues, and the chat was very un-satisfying. At this time I am actively telling everyone to stay away from Husqvarna, because of poor service support and bad equipment quality. I am planning on being very vocal about this both individually and professionally as I travel the country.

No, I do not recommend this product.

A good saw

I bought this saw about 5 years ago and have generally been pleased with it. It's my 3rd saw in 40+ years. My first 2 were lighter-weight saws, this is a bigger saw than those, but a good balance of power and weight. The performance is good. I use it for yard and occasional cleanup after storms and for cutting trees and branches on the property where I hunt deer. A few days a year, like after a storm, it will get used for several hours. The only problem I've had is the same one others have reported - when I use it hard, like cutting several larger trees in a short amount of time, it will sometimes refuse to start after refueling. Once it cools down, it will run like normal. I've learned to let it idle some between periods of heavier use, and it seems to do better. I've used regular pump gas, but I'm very careful to keep my gas can sealed to prevent the ethanol in the gas from absorbing moisture out of the air. It usually starts with 2 or 3 pulls. I'd buy another one, because it's the right balance of power, weight and price/value for me.
