My boy is almost 11 years old. He’s always had Hill science diet all of his life. I just switched to this brand vitality senior I wouldn’t recommend anything else hill science diets been around for many years. I’ve always used it. It works great. Dog loves it.

Too much liquid and so you use nearly an entire can for just a 5-6lb dog per day. With other firmly compacted types of dog food (even ones from Hills) you only use maybe a little more than half of a can each day. The quality of the food is great but I think that the liquid is just a filler and unnecessary.

Long story short - this food increased my dog's weight by 18% in 6 months, and now her health is horrible, we're fighitng to help her lose weight and get her quality of life back. I've been feeding my dogs Hills for over a decade, and I loved it. When I saw this new food option for my senior girl, I was really excited to give her joint support, healthy nutrition, and everything she needed for her old age. I fed her the recommended serving size. Over the next few months, she started declining. She just seemed like she wasn't herself, laid down a lot, etc. The vet ran her bloodwork, everything was fine. She's been on Hill's her whole life, so we never questioned her food. We got some carprofen to see if she was unhappy because of joint pain. 6 months went by, and I took her back to the vet - she gained 18% of her bodyweight in 6 months. I was afraid she had cancer, or some type of organ failure - turns out she was declining in health because this food put so much fat on her, so quickly. I was already struggling seeing my precious girl get old, and start to have some joint soreness - and now I'm devastated because the food I chose for her has gotten her in a really scary position with her health and her weight. We have to put her on pain medicine to manage her joint pain so she can try to walk during the day and get this weight off - even if we're really successful, it will take a year to fix this damage. I have no doubt this has shortened my baby's lifespan.

My fourteen year old Black Lab is thriving on this food. It has helped him so much!
