Successful Solution to Crystals and Hairballs

I adopted 3 sibling kitties and always fed them Hill's Science Diet food. At age 5, my male cat developed urinary crystals and required surgery. I would do anything to avoid that painful situation for him. My vet placed him on Prescription c/d and said he should be on it for life. 2 problems emerged: the higher cost and how to keep his sisters from eating his special food. In an attempt to keep cost down, I had switched the girls to Purina Urinary, but one cat just could not keep it down. They all 3 had hairball issues, most unpleasant little surprises all over the house. Then, like an answer to prayer, Hill's SD Urinary/Hairball appears on store shelves! After discussion with my vet, I switched all 3 cats to this lower priced version of the prescription food, and now for over a year it is a completely successful choice for all my cats. Thank you, Hill's and Tractor Supply!

Cats didn't like it, only used a handful, local store wouldn't exchange even though Hills Science diet corporate office said they would.

New formula results in sick cats

My cats have eaten this for 10 years. Old formula would rate 5 of 5. When the formula changed, one of my cats has been throwing up a lot and the other one has been exhibiting skin allergies. They have both been extremely healthy. The formula change is the only variable. When I stopped giving them the food, they are both much better. Please reassess the formula change.
No, I do not recommend this product.

My cats enjoy this very much, and It definitely helps with hairballs and digests well. The fact that I have to order the 3lb bag to get the new formula is NOT GOOD! The difference between the size and shape of the old and new formulas are too great, and they hate the old formula with the big chunky pieces of kibble, they leave half bitten pieces and don't eat much. This costs me a significant amount of money not being able to get the updated formula in the 7lb bag. Everything is expensive and it's a lot of pressure.

Does not like new formula

My cat has has only eaten the urinary/hairball Science Diet cat food for 10 years. This was the one thing I could count on. When the automatic feeder dispensed the food, she took off to the kitchen. Now, the feeder is overflowing on to the floor, and when the feeder dispenses the food, my cat doesn't move. She no longer loves her food and hardly eats anything. All because of the formula change. I have tried other varieties of science diet, and even other brands of cat food, but she doesn't eat those either. I'm starting to really worry about her. They say you should gradually introduce the new food, but how can you do that when you had no idea the formula was changing, and now you can't find the old formula anywhere.
No, I do not recommend this product.
