1 Answer
  • A: For the GroundWork 93.7 x 30 in. Wooden Garden Planter, it is recommended to inspect and potentially reapply a water-based stain or preservative every 12 to 18 months, essentially making it an annual task. While water-based stains are eco-friendly and dry quickly, they generally sit on the surface and wear away faster than oil-based alternatives when exposed to sun and rain

Great planters at the SALE PRICE

Bought (2) of these on sale. Note that the price before the cart does not include shipping which was $70. FOR THE MONEY ($109x2 on sale) they're great, & cheaper than the materials if I built myself. At the full price ($269), not so much, unless you aren't able to DIY. assembly was fairly easy, they're EXTREMELY sturdy, & the perfect size for gardening without having to sit on the ground. NOTE: 1) Do NOT leave out in rain before assembly or the wood will crack. I had to glue & clamp a few of the end boards before assembly. 2) The units were pre-assembled & unassembled to ship, but certain pieces (cross bars on legs & leg corner brackets) aren't perfectly semetric. In other words, you may have to flip & swap around a few pieces for perfect fit, which includes the 8 ft. long, pre-assembled plantbed walls. I just flipped a few & everything fit fine. 3) If you want them to last, BEFORE putting in a ton of dirt & while clean, I'd HIGHLY recommend using Thompson's Water Seal or equal & coat entire unit, upside down & right side up. They appear to have a THIN coat of water resistant material on them, but since some of the wood grain opened up, especially in the sun & rain before assembly, I can't imagine them lasting more than a few seasons before cracking. With a good coat of Thomson's all over, they should be good for many years. 4) Be sure & tighten all screws & bolts as tight as possible so the units won't work loose over time. HUGE bonus that they came with fitted garden liners, just unfold & they fit perfectly. Didn't expect that. For what I paid for them, I'd HIGHLY recommend, but keep in mind they aren't fine furniture, but more than serve the intended purpose. Would have been helpful to list how many CF of dirt they hold since the plantbed walls are curved like a canoe, so measuring is tricky, but still fine. Thanks!

Yes, I recommend this product.
