Q: What do you need to install to stucco
a month ago1 Answer
- A: To install the GroundWork 35 ft. Hose Hanger with Birds on a stucco wall, you will need specific hardware and tools to ensure it stays secure without damaging the brittle surface Standard screws included with most hangers are often not sufficient for stucco. You should use: Masonry Anchors & Screws: Use Masonry Screw Anchors (like Tapcons) or Plastic Wall Anchors with matching screws. Silicone Caulk: Essential for filling the drilled holes before inserting anchors to prevent water intrusion and help the anchors grip. Washers: Use large flat washers to prevent the screw heads from pulling through the hanger’s mounting holes Essential Tools Hammer Drill: Recommended for drilling into Portland cement stucco to avoid burning out a standard drill. Masonry Drill Bit: A carbide-tipped bit sized exactly to your anchors (typically 1/4" or 3/16"). Level & Marker: To ensure the "Bird" design is mounted straight. Hammer: For gently tapping the anchors into the drilled holes until flush with the wall. Screwdriver or Socket Wrench: To tighten the screws once the hanger is in place Installation Tips for Stucco Check the Stucco Type: If you have a "one-coat" (foam-backed) system, you cannot use standard expansion anchors as they will crush the foam. Instead, use Toggle Bolts that reach the plywood sheathing behind the foam, or mount directly into a wall stud. Avoid Cracking: Drill slowly and steadily. Wiggling the drill can "oval" the hole, making the anchor loose and potentially cracking the surrounding stucco. Seal for Protection: Always blow the dust out of the hole and fill it with Sikaflex or Polyurethane Sealant before inserting the anchor to protect your home's structural integritya month agoHelpful?
