Green Leaf 1/2 in. Polypropylene Bulkhead Fitting is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installed 3 - no leaks! Installed on 55 gal blue barrels. you have to use sense and not install too close to the bottom or top edge. Drilled a 1-1/4” hole with a paddle bit. Fat washer on the outside and skinny washer inside. Tighten until flexible washer outide the barrel is compressed. Don’t try using a smaller hole and threading the fitting in, it’s not necessary for it to be so tight and can deform the threads or barrel wall. your hole doesn’t have to be perfect but clean up any rough edges by sanding off or cutting away and loose plastic. A large adjustable wrench inside will help you tighten that nut down. Even a pipe wrench can work in a pinch. Remember the fitting is threaded counter-clockwise - backwards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Same problem I stripped the retainer nut using just my hands. Prepare to buy a 2nd nut.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not enough threads on outside nut I bought this today to make a rain barrel. Before the nut was snug, the threads stripped out. The nut had a deep chamfer -- too deep, there was only 2 to 2-1/2 threads, and not enough strength. I'll have to get something made out of metal.

What size pilot hole do you drill in the barrel to install this fitting? I think an inch and 3/8 will work. Am I correct.

Asked by: James Bell
The hole size we recommend to drill is 1 1/4".

Can this fitting be used on poly fuel tank?

Asked by: Clumber
This is not recommended. The polypropylene material will hold up to fuel but the EDPM sealing gasket will deteriorate rather quickly.
