- A: While this kit is designed specifically for adding to existing off-grid solar systems, the included 50W panel could certainly be used standalone with an appropriate charge controller. If you won't be needing the branch connector set that comes with this kit, it might make more sense to purchase the panel only - try searching TSC for SKU 120455199.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: I have GS-100-KIT-IP68. Can I use this expansion kit? Are the cables compatible? Will my charge controller be able to handle the additional 50W panel?

- A: Hi, Here is the information we received back from the vendor- "Great question. The GS-100-KIT-IP68 is designed as a standalone system. Generally, this controller is not recommended for use with multiple panels. However, the GS-PWM-10A-IP68 controller can handle up to 10A of solar input current, which means that yes, it can theoretically handle an extra 50W panel. • This will only work if the panels are connected to the controller in parallel configuration. Connecting them in series will exceed the max input voltage and damage the controller. • The GS-50-EXP expansion kit includes a single 50W panel and a branch connector – everything you will need to achieve the parallel connection. • This configuration will result in about 8A input to the controller, which is near its limit. One 10A inline fuse is recommended to protect the controller. • All cables and connectors are compatible. Q: I have a Grape Solar GS-STAR-100w Polycrystalline 18v 5.56A panel that I would like to connect in parallel to this panel, and use them together to charge the Ego Nexus Powerstation through the solar charger, that maxes out at 180w. Will this work?

- A: You can add this panel to only a system with 50w panels such as our 50w kit. You can add it to any system if you purchase another charge controller and simply connect that to the same battery as your other system.9 years agoHelpful?
