Setup was super straightforward — clamp it on, select the mode, and it does the rest. No confusing menus or guessing what the charger is doing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When my SUV went from being my daily driver to being parked behind the garage due to new work requirements one thing that I struggled with was always remembering to start her up every few weeks. On more than one occasion I’ve forgotten to do this more often than I care to admit and the GEARWRENCH Battery Charger and Maintainer is the perfect solution when my battery has trouble turning the engine over due to low charge. This charger and maintainer works with AGM, standard lead acid, Gel, and Lithium-Ion batteries and with both 6v and 12v systems. The different modes are easy to toggle through with a single button. There are instructions supplied but I found the use of the charger incredibly intuitive; just remember to pay attention to the 6v vs. 12v modes. The easy to read display toggles between the battery voltage and the charge rate, which for me was 3.2 amps, so you will always know where you’re at. The charger can be connected by alligator clamps or with onboard connectors if you want to easily plug in to a connection that stays mounted in the vehicle. The IP65 rating means this a great option for the vehicle that is not garaged. This is a high quality charger and I would definitely recommend this to anyone because it’s easy to use and delivers what it promises.

I like the fact that the charger has holes to allow a permanent mounting if the situation requires it. It comes with the usual connections for clamping right onto the battery post for a short term charge or connecting underneath the nut and washer for extended use. Very simple design and it is simple to use. Just set it to which battery type you have and let it do its thing. Right no i have it on my dads Cadillac for the winter storage.
