GEARWRENCH 10A 6V/12V Battery Charger and Maintainer

Been using this charger around the shop to flash program vehicles and be able to keep the batteries topped off while a vehicle is being diagnosed. Loved the simple controls, all you need is select either a 6v or 12v and the type of battery with a single button. It will save the last option selected, you can pretty much set it and forget it. It does the rest of the work for you adjusting the amperage and keeping a stable voltage.

This is a great product to use on any kind of battery. I was using it on a sxs you can see it use the smart charging to a trickle charge. Must have. Around your house or shop. To keep your battery’s charge or have to have them charge.

Out of the box you’ll get the charger itself, a set of positive and negative claps to clamp onto battery top posts and a set of connectors for side lug style batteries. Along with a thin set of instructions.. The clamp and lug set of wires are about 21” long each. The cable on the charger that they plug into is about 54” long giving you a total of 75” of length between the main unit and the battery. The power cord for the main unit is about 74”. Overall you have about 12’ to work with from the outlet to the battery. For my needs on this project I was working from a bench top to bring a couple of AGM batteries back to life so distance was not an issue. This unit will probably get swapped over to my Jeep that only sees work on the weekends now. The lug style connector cable is long enough to poke out of the grill of my Jeep so it can stay permanently connected with the disconnect in a convenient location. I’ve got a couple of outlets well within the 10’ range to keep the main unit at. Using the unit is pretty straightforward. There is an arrow button to the right of the display that cycles through the battery types, AGM, Standard, Gel, or Lithium Phosphate, and the voltage, either 6v or 12v. You will get a warning icon if you try to charge a 12v at a 6v setting and vice versa. Once the unit has fully charged the battery, it kicks over to trickle charging the battery. It will also give you a FULL message on the display. So far this has been a great unit. It brought both of my AGM batteries back to life and will continue on as a trickle charger for my Jeep.

Great little charger for home use. Functions as intended, I use it to maintain my power equipment batteries while in storage. Appearance looks good, but I feel it needs an upgrade in the ruggedness aspect. It feels like if it gets dropped, the case might break or the internals might get damaged. I was a little disappointed in the feel and look of the supplied battery clamps as they look like cheap universal clamps. I expected a little better clamp quality. The screen interface is nice and easy to read, and operate. Overall, it's a great charger for home use, but might not survive in a shop environment if being used as a mobile charger. I would give it 5 stars if it came with better clamps, and the case made a bit more rugged.
