GEARWRENCH 15 pc. SAE Ratcheting Tap and Die Set

I really like the portability of this little set and the case it comes with. My wife actually asked if I thought that the front cover looked thin or like it wasn’t made very well. I then proceeded to drop a dead blow hammer on it while she stared in disbelief. Not even a scratch. Tough case so far.

Content of the kit is well thought out. Has all the required SAE size taps and dies needed for electrical work. First time using a ratching tap wrench/die stock. A great enhancement. Taps and dies appear to be good quality and are sharp.

I also got the metric set and was going to wait to review until at least one use. Then I saw the sizes both came in. It'll be a long while before I need anything in these sizes. They're on the very small side of things. I primarily work on cars, so I don't think these will be necessary very often. Also SAE fasteners are becoming extinct (better be) in the automotive world. I do like the t-handle in the sets. That alone might make the set worth it. No. Just get the handle if that's what you want. I'll throw these on the drawer on the off chance they're needed.

I was very impressed with this set. The handle and tooling is strong. The quick attachment is so simple and easy to use. The handle fit perfectly in my hands with great comfort. The best part for me was the ratcheting system. It helped to keep your hands in the same spots so the tap goes in straight. The only part I think that will wear out is the molded plastic organizer. I think it would be better if it were foam or a heavy plastic.
