Q: Can you put a different chemical tank on it that mixes on exit

1 Answer
  • Fimco Industries
A: Mike, unfortunately, we do not have anything available that will mix on exit. that would be something you would have to fabricate. We have been looking into a system that will allow a sprayer to do that, but as of right now, we don't have anything and not sure if we will.

Q: How do you store in winter to keep the tank from cracking

1 Answer
  • Fimco Industries
A: Tank Care & Maintenance Warning: Do not use the tank as a container for fuel oils, kerosene, gasoline or any other petroleum distillate product. All polyolefins are softened and permeated by such products. In an enclosed area the vaporization of these materials from the outside surface of the tank could create a dangerous condition. The tank should not be used as a pressure vessel nor used with chemicals or solutions having a weight of more than 12 pounds per gallon. Store the tank in a dry dark place when not in use. Storage out of sunlight will prolong the life of the tank. Do not drop, strike or kick the tank, especially at low temperatures. Tanks become brittle and are subject to cracking at temperatures below 20° Fahrenheit. Always flush the tank with water and a neutralizing agent at the end of each use, to prevent contamination of solutions. Winter Storage Prepare the sprayer for end-of-season storage by running RV antifreeze through the system. This will keep internal parts lubricated, protect against corrosion and keep the unit from freezing. Note: RV antifreeze is non-toxic and biodegradable and generally safer for the environment than automotive antifreeze. Before storing your sprayer for winter or long term storage, thoroughly clean and drain it as much as possible. Then pour enough pink RV antifreeze into the tank so that when the pump is turned on you can pump the antifreeze throughout the entire plumbing system, including the bypass. Make sure to operate the boom and handgun until you see pink fluid spraying from the nozzles. Leave any remaining antifreeze in the tank. Before your next usage, rinse the antifreeze from the sprayer with clean water. It is nearly impossible to drain all of the water from the sprayer and any trapped water can freeze in cold weather and damage parts of the sprayer. Pumping the antifreeze through the system will displace the water and help prevent this damage. Removing from storage: drain the antifreeze. Fill the tank with fresh water and run through the system. Dispose of antifreeze and flush water properly.

Q: Can I remove the hand sprayer?

Anonymousa year ago
1 Answer
  • Fimco Industries
A: Matthew, yes you can remove the hand sprayer. All you would have to do is shut off the valve on that outlet to shut it off. You can also call our customer service team at 800-831-0027 and they'll be more than happy to send you a plug as well, as we have those in the office and we would just mail it out to you. You would just replace the barb in the cap with the plug and then that would also shut off that outlet.

Q: Using my zero turn mower, how do I hook up pump electrically? Does it clamp onto my 12V battery or do I need some type of connector?

1 Answer
  • Fimco Industries
A: Erik, thank you for your interest in the 45-gallon trailer sprayer from Tractor Supply. The sprayer comes with a lead wire with battery clamps to hook it up to your battery. A stand-alone battery can also be used, any 12-volt rechargeable battery will work.

Q: Can you spray a smaller swath than 10 feet?

1 Answer
  • Fimco Industries
A: About the only way you could spray less than the 120" spray coverage would be to install shut off valves inline on the nozzle harness to shut off the end nozzles or to shut two nozzles on one side of the boom and either spray on the left or the right. Then you would be able to spray about half that swath.

A: Barry, if you're referring to something like a cigarette lighter outlet, you can purchase the lead wire with cigarette lighter adapter and then you can hook up the sprayer.

Q: Does this have a regulator to control pressure?

1 Answer
  • Fimco Industries
A: This sprayer has a manifold coming off the outlet side of the pump with 3 connections. One to the spray gun, one to the boom and one is a bypass (marked Press Adj). With the one for the bypass, a hose comes off running back to the tank. You regulate your pressure with this line. The more open, the less the pressure, the more closed, the higher the pressure.

Fimco's quality? Poor at best.

I hope this sprayer functions better than it assembled. Wrong sized bolts, improper hose lengths, poor hose clamps and directions poorly written are what you'll have to deal with. 1) Somehow this particular unit came with three 2 1/2" length bolts and one 2" length bolt to bolt the tank to the frame. A 2" bolt isn't long enough to bolt the tank down, so I had to go buy one. 2) The hose lengths for the sprayer nozzles aren't long enough. The outer ones are short enough to get caught in between the arm spring and the pivot bolt on each side, while the center ones don't allow you to space the two middle nozzles apart the 30" that's recommended. I had to apply more tension than should be to the middle hoses just to get to 29" between those two nozzles. You really only need about 3" on each end piece and 2" on one of the middle pieces to have everything relaxed and functional. I'll eventually end up replacing all of that hose. Hopefully before the plastic fittings break. 3) Have several extra hose clamps on hand to fit the 3/8" hose. The ones supplied are very poor quality and will fail if you try to tighten them or move them. Like the one that completely came apart when I tried moving it to clear the folded arm. 4) Page 5 of the directions has one mounting the spray boom and nozzles. Page 13- if you read that far back- tells you the nozzles need to be 20" above whatever you're spraying for the optimum pattern. Why isn't that little tidbit of information with the rest of the mounting instructions????

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for the highly detailed feedback. We take product quality incredibly seriously, so it is surprising to hear about these assembly issues, as this is the first time we have received this combination of feedback regarding our hardware counts, hose lengths, or clamps on this model.
Please reach out to our customer support team directly at 800-831-0027 if there is anything we can do for you.
To clarify why the 20-inch height requirement is located on the boom parts breakdown page: this specification is a variable determined entirely by the specific nozzle tips and spray angles used on this exact boom assembly. Because the required height can be affected by height of grass, weeds and even the towing vehicle hitch can vary widely and changes depending on the nozzle part configuration to achieve a perfect, overlapping pattern, it is kept alongside the technical breakdown of the boom parts rather than the general frame assembly steps.
We appreciate your insights as they help us continually improve our manuals and quality control. FimcoInc

Weak pump

This is a decent spreader for home use, but I bought it to use for a commercial business. The pump overheats and blows fuses when it running for more than twenty minutes. I’m looking to upgrade the pump. Besides that, it’s a good unit for the price.

Thank you for the feedback! We’re glad the trailer is serving you well overall. It's worth noting that our pumps are rated for continuous duty, so overheating usually points to a 'cycling' issue or a restriction in the flow that causes the motor to work harder than intended. Before you swap it out, check that your spray tips are clean and that the battery leads are getting full voltage. If you’re looking for a heavy-duty commercial upgrade, we recommend looking at our 4.0 Pro Series, which is designed specifically to handle the rigors of daily business use, as it's more of a professional grade pump. Nice Spray Rig -- Very Good Right out of the Box

I added a remote power switch, so I could start/stop spraying from the driver's seat in the tow vehicle. I also added a deep cycle battery and mount to the trailer tongue to eliminate connecting power to the tow vehicle battery. Worked very well overall. I thought that the placement of the embossed volume levels was awkward, with the imperial measures semi hidden under the coiled hose for the spray wand. The lower gallonage markings can only be seen if you lie flat on the ground. Placing the embossments on the end of the tank facing the tow vehicle would make things much better for reading/accurate measuring of materials. An option for a longer tongue would be valuable also, as the rig is near impossible to back up. Another option would be for zerk fittings for the wheel bearings. All in all a pretty good rig. Easy assembly. Would buy again if needed.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Home use only

Overall this sprayer isn’t made for more than large yard use. I have 36 acres of rolling hill pasture and the farm has cracked in half and I’m on my second tank. The tank takes all the abuse from the trailer being without suspension.

No, I do not recommend this product.
