This thermostat-controlled outlet turns the power on and off automatically, according to the outside ambient air temperature, and converts a single outlet into a convenient double receptacle. Q: Can this be used with an extension cord? For example, could I plug this cube into an outdoor outlet, and plug the extension cord into the cube, with the heater plugged into the other end of the extension cord?

- A: You can use an extension cord but this outlet has the thermostat in it. t will give power to the extension cord when it hits 35 degrees and shut off when it's 45 degrees. So if you have it outdoors, it will power the extension cord when outdoors is 35 degrees.5 years agoHelpful?

Works great for chicken coops

I use this to warm my chicken coop. Was worried about leaving heat lamp on all the time so I started using this. It turns the lamp on when the temp gets freezing and turns off at 40 or so.

Worked as needed. I have water pump house that is not heated. Thermo Cube helps with heating costs. More importantly I do not have to remember to turn the heater on. No more frozen water pipes

Helps save electric

Bought this thermo cube to control Sweeter Heater in chicken coop. Helps to on save electric by turning on when temp drops below 35 inside coop. I have been unplugging manually to turn off in morning after the chickens leave coop and temp outside is warming up. I did not expect it to turn off, as the Sweeter Heater doesn’t heat up coop just the chickens. So far working as expected.
