The Earthquake Walk Behind String Mower, powered by a 160cc 4-Cycle Viper engine with, is the perfect all-terrain tool for making short work of your trimming and brush clearing tasks. In contrast to push mowers or hand-held trimmers, the Earthquake String Mower is designed to help you go where mowers can't while eliminating the back strain associated with carrying heavy equipment all around the yard. Built-tough features like a one-piece steel deck and heavy-duty nylon line ensure continuous results and make the experience of slicing through weeds and dense foliage quick, easy, and satisfying. In addition to being tough, this unit is also convenient, utilizing large diameter, extra wide wheels to keep you coasting around your property over uneven terrain and through thick grass and weeds. An integrated clutch and hand bail system safely keeps the String Mower motor running, but disengages and stops the trimmer head if you need to clear debris, eliminating the need to re-start your motor each time. When the job is complete, you simply wheel the unit back to the garage and fold down the handlebars for easier storage. Backed by a 5-year product warranty, US-based customer service, this product is built to perform. 5-Year Limited Warranty

For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

  • POWERFUL - Powered by a strong, 160cc 4-Cycle Viper engine. The Earthquake Walk Behind String Mower chops down your unsightly weeds and stubborn brush with ease. The large 14-inch wheels allow you to float through thick grass, weeds, brush, nettles, and other foliage too difficult for push mowers to overcome.
  • DURABLE - Our one-piece steel deck provides strength and stability while reducing vibration. Super tough nylon line has a cutting swath of 22 to get the job done quickly.
  • CONVENIENT- Never-go-flat wheels ensure that your equipment is ready to go when you are. An integrated clutch and hand bail system safely keeps the String Mower motor running, but disengages and stops the trimmer head if you need to clear debris, eliminating the need to re-start your motor each time.
  • OUT-OF-THE-BOX: The setup is super simple with virtually zero assembly required. Simply unfold and tighten the tool-less handlebar knobs. Also included in the box are starter strings for the mower head and 4 cycle engine oil.
  • WARRANTY AND SERVICE: Earthquake is committed to providing a great product and an even better user experience which is why the Earthquake Walk Behind String Mower is backed by a 5-year limited warranty.

Best option short of a bushhog!

This Walk Behind String Trimmer is a beast when it comes to clearing the path around you. Its .155 diameter string holds up really well and the 21.5" replacement line is easy to change when it does run out. It is fantastic on level ground. However, its downfall is that it is a bear to push uphill and a little tough to hold back on the downhill.

Used once, returned next day...

Underpowered, bogged down in 4" to 6" grass and weeds, not for use on uneven ground. Needs multiple line attachments rather than just two, difficult to control cutting depth/length of material. Nose is bulky and will not allow close cropping unless the trimmer line is at maximum length, trim line provided is consumed very quickly. Recoil start requires near horizontal pull, too low, needs throttle control other than bar on handle to engage and disengage trimmer head, Oil dipstick difficult to check; tucked location and threaded. Reviews appear misleading, perhaps the newer model version with throttle control, self propelled, head drive lever, and re-located recoil start will address some of these issues...

Poor Quality, not worth the Price, MFG No Show!!

I purchased the Earthquake 22 in walk behind trimmer in June 2026 and it is underpowered, and continues to shutoff and flood constantly. There has been a constant whine out of the box and it struggles to stay at optimal RPM's to be able to cut most medium level grass. I find myself standing, waiting on it to heal itself in order to proceed forward. The last use, the unit cut off and would not start back. I figured it was flooded and I really need to finish the work. I reached out to the MFG to file a claim, went through all the automated channels and never heard back from them. I could not get in touch with a live person. This is after I had properly filed the warranty paperwork. I would strongly recommend NO BUYING THIS PRODUCT! You would be better served flushing $500 dollars down the drain. I hope Tractor Supply will stand behind it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I owned one already, several years old. Unfortunately my cable broke that engaged the mowing mechanism. So not having time for repairs. I bought new one.

Works well. Plenty of power. Engaging is stiff but I like that you can stop cutting without killing motor.

Great for North GA under brush

Great Mower for under brush. Very impressed at how well this mower cuts. It is noisy when you disengage the clutch.
